1. Zoomino brings contextual video capability to the iPad browsing experience.
Web pages that are zoomino-enabled automatically receive the benefit of the platform’s mobile Safari support. Zoomino will intelligently recommend the suitable (HTML5) videos.
As shown in this screenshot, the zoomino display pops out and can be docked on the upper right corner of the browser window, so a reader can scroll down and read on while enjoying the video recommendations.
A reader can also go to the full-screen mode of the video if they so choose, and depending on the quality of the specific clip, it could be quite a visually stunning experience on the “magical” device :).
A host of exciting new platform features customized for the iPad and iPhone will be rolled out soon.
Can’t wait!

  2. Logorama rocks

Watch the full length version of logorama at Rooftopfilms at the lower east side.

Very clever use of logos to make a story that actually makes sense. Compared to the other independent films, logorama doesn’t have a hard edge, aims to please. But you know what, there is nothing wrong with it.

  3. The ipad is a pain in the neck, literally..
The slick device is earning praises at the Zoomino office to be sure. But the truth is i have quickly developed this aversion to pick it up, because there is no good way to position it in my hands without my neck arching over it, and it hurts after a short while.
I am sure there are accessories (like a cradle/stand) that apple will be happily make us pay a premium for. For now, I have my free version “built” out of a couple of boxes -an eye sore for sure, but at least my neck is feeling better.

  4. Checking out Streaming Media East

I am heading over to the Streaming Media East.. There will be a bunch of online video technology providers that could be potential partners for Zoomino In-Text TV.

A recap of the event will follow in a later post.

  5. Grown-up toy: the Icon A5

What does a plane and a jetski have in common? The ultralight Icon A5 weighs like a jetski, and takes up almost as little space as one.

With 150 grand of spare change and some spare garage space, you can surprise your wife with a plane in the house. A amphibian one no less.

You gotta see this amazing aparatus in action!

  6. Lakers defeats Jazz in Game 1

Fresh off of a difficult opening round series against Oklahoma City, the L.A Lakers got off to a solid start in the Western Conference semifinals, taking Game 1 over the Utah Jazz behind a fourth quarter rally.

“It was tough,” remarked Kobe Bryant after the game. “But when it got really tough for me, I just checked myself in.”

    Kobe Goes to the Hoop

On the night, Bryant had 31 points, 11 of which came in the games’ last four minutes, as he spearheaded a Laker comeback, ensuring that they would not lose home court advantage despite blowing a lead early in the fourth quarter.

Pau Gasol got in on the act as well, with 25 points to go along with 12 rebounds.  He was also a force on the defensive end of the court, tabbing five blocked shots.

It was Bryant however that put the Lakers on his back, per the usual.  With Utah up by four points, Bryant went on a 7-0 by himself to erase the lead and put L.A in front for good.

On the other side of the court, the Jazz were led by Daron Williams, who scored 24 points.  Utah has now lost 15 consecutive games against the Lakers on the road.

Carlos Boozer tabbed a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while C.J Miles contributed 16 points.  Miles made several big shots en route to Utah taking the lead, but failed to do so in the final minutes.

  7. Lyrebird - the most talented bird

Read about the lyrebird’s amazing ability to imitate sounds it hears. Not only can the bird mimic the very funny Kookaburra, it can reproduce the many other non-bird sounds - from chainsaw to camera shutter to car alarm.

Researchers say that the lyrebird, the most complexly-muscled of the Passerines, has a photographic memory of sound, and uses its head, the beak and syrinx in highly coordinated movements to produce practically any sound - bird, human, other animals, or even heavy machinery.

  8. Mythbusters’ viral video episodes

Saw a rerun of the Mythbusters’ viral video episodes, and they are just an awesome display of new (online) media is influencing what’s happening in traditional media: cable tv in this case.

Media strategy observation aside, a couple of viral video inspired tests they did on the show were quite interesting. One of the is “firehose car lift” while the other was “saw dust cannon”. Both myths were confirmed in awe-inspiring fashions. And they managed to outdo the original cannon video by like 10 times in mythbusters fashion.
